Reward Tickets

The first Ticket Turn-In days will be Wednesday, December 21 (A) , and Thursday, December 22 (A).

Independent Reading

  • Independent Reading is due Friday, January 20.
  • Please be sure to follow the Independent Reading Guidelines for submission.
  • Note: Honors must answer BOTH questions.

  • Friday, December 16: Email two questions for the author to Mrs. Wasley
  • Friday, December 23: Email three outside sources to Mrs. Wasley
  • Friday, December 23: Outline for your paper (a suggested format will be provided)

English 2

  • Friday, December 16: Email three or more outside sources for your paper to Mrs. Wasley
  • Friday, December 23: Outline for your paper (a suggested format will be provided)

Your Finals: What to Review

For your final, you will be analyzing your own speech using the rhetorical strategies we learned this semester. You will receive a copy of your own speech to analyze during the exam.

Be sure to review the following:

  • Aristotle’s Rhetorical Triangle (Ethos, Pathos, Logos)
  • Diction Techniques (Parallel Structure, Anaphora, Polysyndeton; denotation and connotation)
  • Sentence Expansion (remember to use proper punctuation!)
  • Symbolism/Characterization (Ethan Frome, Fences) (short answer)
  • Short speech analysis (short answer)
