Creative Writing Challenges 2015-2016

The March Challenge:

————————–

Congratulations to our January Creative Writing Challenge winner, Camran!

January’s challenge was to rewrite a verse of a song in Elizabethan English using iambic pentameter. Camran rewrote “Let Her Go” by Passenger:

Thou desires light only when candles dim,
Only admires the sun when ’tis in frost.
When lets go of the greatest love of him,
Dost thou admire the girl that he hath lost.

Only see heaven when thou is earthbound,
Roamer hates his path when on route to home.
Only when lover’s breath makes not a sound,
Does he realize how his affection’s grown.

In midnight darkness he stares at white brick,
His heart’s empty shell so familiar now.
Love doth arrive so slow yet flee so quick,
Now only in dreams doth he kiss her brow.

But never to lay finger on true flesh,
Lost affections he shall never see his.
Result of love too strong in its crèche,
Could not survive a Cupid’s deeper quiz.

Excellent work, Camran!

Look for the February challenge soon.
